Back by popular demand, this edition of Robert Louis Stevenson's classic adventure story is set in 1751 - following the second Jacobite Rebellion - a troubled and tragic time in Scottish history.
Young David Balfour is kidnapped, to be carried away on the brig Covenant to a life of slavery in the Americas, after narrowly escaping being murdered. On board the ship he meets Alan Breck, a swordsman and Jacobite, but they run into trouble and are shipwrecked off the coast of Scotland. When the two friends accidentally witness the murder of Colin Campbell - the notorious 'Red Fox' - they are chased across the Highlands. Will they escape? Will David ever make his way back to Edinburgh?
This edition is retold for younger readers by John Kennett. The illustrations are by Frank Godwin, and the cover illustration is by N. C Wyeth. The map is by David Lindroth.
