Authors: Neil Wilson with James McEwan

Prepared by whisky writer Neil Wilson and the production director of Bruichladdich Distillery on Islay, James McEwan, this map is fully updated for 2015 and features every distillery in production along with those that have closed since 1960.

The most recent additions to the growingnumber of distilleries are listed and range from Saxa Vord in Shetland to Annandale in Dumfriesshire, and Ardnamurchan in the far west to Kingsbarns in Fife.

There have been whisky maps before, but this new map is the best to date. In full colour (with a wealth of distillery information on the reverse) the map gives a full view of the whisky producing regions of Scotland. The regional boundaries of these have been redrawn in an attempt to simplify this aspect of the industry. James McEwan’s unique notes are incorporated on the reverse along with a distillery directory, website addresses, cooperage notes, cask information, Landranger OS map references, some interesting distillery terms and a Highland distilling licence from 1793.

Interest in grain whisky is growing, and the map shows Scotland’s seven producing plants. The map shows distilleries that have visitor facilities, with their details on the rear of the map. So if your interest is purely academic, or that of an enthusiast and whisky lover, this new map will be essential for your bookshelf or library wall.
